The strip is never dimmed directly — the driver is. Mismatch the dimmer, the driver and the load and you get flicker at the bottom of the range.

The control layer is what turns a strip from an always-on light into a lighting design. Match the controller to what the strip can do.

  • Dimmers — brightness on single-color strips
  • CCT controllers — warm ↔ cool white on tunable-white strips
  • RGB / RGBW / RGB+CCT controllers — color, plus dedicated white channels
  • SPI / pixel controllers — dynamic effects with per-segment control

Low-voltage systems typically dim by PWM (pulse-width modulation), which holds color point steady across the dimming range. The controller must match the strip's type, voltage, and channel count — a 24V RGBW strip needs a 24V four-channel controller, not whatever is on the shelf.

Use a dimmable constant-voltage driver rated for the control protocol on the wall — TRIAC or ELV for line-voltage dimmers, 0-10V for commercial controls, or DALI for networked installations. The strip itself is not dimmed directly; the driver or an in-line PWM dimmer does the work. Confirm the dimmer, driver, and load are compatible as a set, since mismatches cause flicker and drop-out at low levels.
